Plot

Jay and Marty are in Caan, France, where Jay is taping an episode of Coming Attractions. Later on, Duke invites Jay over to his highly exquisite hotel room and requests Jay to introduce him a presentation the following night. At the presentation, Duke shows off his latest invention: Phillipsvision, where the downer endings of dramatic movies are changed to happier endings.

This doesn't sit well with Jay, who voices his objections. Duke defends the technology, but while doing so, he clutches his chest and falls to the ground. He is immediately taken to a hospital and gets diagnosed with a rare condition and he is given only four years to live. Jay advises Duke to make the most of the time that he has left. Duke begins to do things such as making new words and having Jay writing his will.

However, Duke later decides to commit suicide. Jay talks him out it by offering to come up with a cure for his disease. Jay begins brainstorming several ideas, but the work soon takes a toll on him, as he appears on an episode of Coming Attractions looking worse for wear. Later that night, Jay is mixing chemicals (and Snapple) together and is testing them out on a hamster when he suddenly sneezes into the mixture. The hamster drinks the solution, and moves about in a very healthy manner.

Duke takes the serum and is instantly cured. That night, he throws a party celebrating his return to normal health. He thanks Jay and Jay asks for one thing in return: Duke has to get rid of Phillipsvision. Duke reluctantly does so.

In the end, it turns out that Jay's serum has also been used on some unsavory characters, such as a member of the Ku Klux Klan, a whale clubber and a trio of prisoners.
